KIC is funded by V.

V is an independent charity championing youth volunteering in England. Their aim is to inspire a new generation of young volunteers (aged 16-25) and enable a lasting change in the quality, quantity and diversity of youth volunteering.

They're different because:

  • v is led by the cares, interests, passions and beliefs of young people. Our advisory board of 20 young people is engaged in all aspects of the charity’s work. Four of them also sit on our Board of Trustees. The views of young people are central to our organisation; we were created following a Government study into youth action and engagement (the Russell Commission) which collected the views of over 6000 young people
  • V work with and build on the existing organisations and systems within the voluntary sector. Vaim to extend and improve upon what already exists and ensure that wherever possible this is youth led too
  • V is funded using an innovative Government and private sector model, which ensures our independence but also allows us to make a considerable impact within the sector.

v has three main tasks:

  • to fund organisations to create new opportunities for young people
  • to develop tools and infrastructure improvements, working with the voluntary sector
  • and to promote greater awareness and understanding of volunteering amongst young people.

v is supported by the Office of the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office.
